Help Finding Modest Clothing on this Web Site

What I mean by the section headings

‘Western Styles’ of modest clothing means the kind of clothing typically found in mainstream American, Canadian, European, etc. stores, except that the stores listed on this site will have modest versions of mainstream Western clothing. Most of the religious stores are cross-referenced in ‘Western Styles’ so that if you’re looking for mainstream clothing like long skirts or modest prom dresses, you need only look in ‘Western Styles.’ Anytime I think there is something more in a religious section than what I’ve cross-referenced, I point out the other places to look.

The religious sections are specifically for ladies who want to patronize stores that run under the auspices of their own religions. This practice was very important for some ladies when I first started this site in 1998, and it’s still important for some ladies today. I cannot guarantee that I’ve accurately categorized each and every store, but I think I did a thorough job. If I don’t see a religion mentioned on a particular site, but I suspect it may be targeting the clothing requirements of a given religion, then I ask the site owner.

Another reason to use the religious sections is if you are a woman looking for clothing fitting the requirements or recommendations of your faith, then you’ll have the best chances of finding what you’re looking for in your section. For example, a Muslim woman could use the ‘Western Styles’ section to find long skirts, but she’d have to click through a lot of stores to find skirts long enough for her needs. If she uses the ‘Islamic’ section, she’ll find that all the skirts carried in those stores are most likely long enough for her.

‘Other Regional Styles’ is obviously a section where I put stores that have clothing typical of other parts of the world.

‘Specialty Niches’ is where I list other niche industries that I think my site’s visitors may like. Simply dressed Christians may like ‘Vintage Patterns’ and ‘Authentic Historical Clothing’ for example. Jewish and Muslim ladies may like ‘Medical Hair Loss’ for all the kinds of head coverings they have, and sun protective clothing is inherently modest (by skin coverage, not necessarily by fit), so it could appeal to ladies and men of various backgrounds.

Search tools

I’ve got two search functionalities on my site, so you can try both of them. The Google search box is at the top of most pages. The other search tool I use is FreeFind which is found by clicking ‘Search’ in the ‘Get Help’ menu. I cannot control when the Google spider visits my site to index my pages which, in turn, makes the search results updated, so I also use the FreeFind tool because I can tell their spider to index my pages whenever I want thus yielding up-to-date search results.

Ask Me

If you’re looking for something in particular, I’d probably be able to find it or its absence a lot faster than you, and I don’t mind looking. I’d be especially faster in the case of an absence of what you’re looking for in the market because I may recall instantly if I’ve not seen something before whereas you’d have to look everywhere to determine that no one, indeed, sells what you’re looking for. So ask me! Ask Dara a question
