Forearm Covers
|
Ive found that wearing
short-sleeved, sleeveless, etc.
tops under an abaya or long khimar
is cooling because there isn’t
fabric tight to the skin and some
air can get in. Since abaya sleeves
don’t stay put all the time, I wear
forearm covers to keep the
wrists and forearms covered.

Khimar
|
As I described above, wearing khimar
can be a cooling way to cover up.*
Here’s a
really neat khimar designed
specifically to help us keep cool in
the summer.

*By khimar,
I mean the long, loose coverings that
cover the head and the torso/arms.
Somali women wear these a lot. I know
this isn’t an accurate definition of
khimar, but I base my
definition on how I saw the word being
used in the early days of Islamic
clothing online. Also,
read why I use hijab for
headcovering.
