Dr. Leonard’s was the first store I saw that carried long fingerless
mittens (or gloves). I described the item like this, “this item looks just like the forearm covers that some Muslims like to wear, but it has an extra neat feature—a thumb hole to keep the warmers from riding up.” Well, that was about three years ago and Dr. Leonard’s didn’t have them in stock when I wrote this in August.
Dr. Leonard’s is a store that caters to seniors, and now I see this innovation popping up in more trendy places. The most recent was
at the U.K.’s Long Tall Sally. I had their purple-colored fingerless gloves (Hoy Gloves) in my shopping cart, but they sold out before I actually placed my order. I’ll put more links here when I find some that are in stock.
Update (Feb. 8, 2010): More of the purple-colored fingerless gloves came in and now they are clearance-priced! Get them for next season.
